In the early days of FSX (circa 2007-2010), there was a freeware Airbus A320 project by authors like Tom Ruth. However, this model is extremely basic—static cockpit, default FSX gauges, and no FBW logic. It is not the Aerosoft product.
This is the only legal, free Airbus A320 for FSX that is worth your time.
Note: You will need to merge it with a freeware panel like "Eric Marciano’s Airbus FBW panel" to get better systems. This requires complex modding.
A common argument in sim forums is: "FSX is old. Aerosoft should release their A320 for free as abandonware." aerosoft a320 fsx free download
This is false. "Abandonware" is not a legal status. Microsoft no longer sells FSX on discs, but Dovetail Games owns the distribution rights for FSX: Steam Edition (released 2014). Furthermore, Aerosoft is an active, thriving developer. They currently sell the A320 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024.
Because they still sell a modern version for a modern sim, they have every legal and financial right to protect the FSX version. Do not expect a free release.
