Ensure the mod you are downloading is compatible with the 0.17 version. Newer mods often utilize physics engine updates that older game versions cannot read.
The automatic "drag and drop" mod installer did not exist in v0.17. You must use the Manual Mod Installation method.
Step 1: Locate your BeamNG.drive user folder.
Unlike modern versions where mods go into %LocalAppData%, version 0.17 stores user data inside the game’s installation directory (unless you changed it). beamng drive 017 mods install
Step 2: Find the mods subfolder.
Navigate to:
BeamNG.drive\0.17\mods
Note: If the mods folder does not exist, create it manually (case-sensitive).
Step 3: Download a compatible 0.17 mod.

Step 4: Extract the mod properly.

If the mod is a .zip file, the game expects the archive to contain the mod’s root folders directly inside the zip.
✅ Correct zip structure:
mod.zip → (vehicles/, art/, mod.json)
❌ Incorrect:
