The word Cepher (also rendered Sefer) is a Hebrew term meaning "Book" or "Scroll." Published by Cepher Publishing Group, this volume is not merely a translation but a compilation. It combines the text of the 66 books of the Protestant canon with additional apocryphal and pseudepigraphal writings.

The driving philosophy behind The Cepher is that over centuries, scribes removed the "Sacred Names" (Yahuah, Yahusha, etc.) and replaced them with generic titles (Lord, God, Jesus). The editors of The Cepher have systematically re-inserted what they believe to be the original Hebrew names and transliterations.
