Danball Senki W Episode 1

While Danball Senki W Episode 1 is a strong premiere, it’s not flawless. The episode suffers from excessive exposition. Almost 10 minutes of runtime are dedicated to characters explaining the new "W System" (a dual-control mechanism for LBXs) and the politics of the new world order. For younger viewers, this might feel like homework before the fun begins.

Additionally, the absence of fan-favorite characters like Ran and Kazu for the entire episode is a letdown. They are mentioned but not seen, leaving the episode feeling slightly empty without the original trio’s chemistry.

3. Detector & Dr. Mummy

The debut fight sequence is where Danball Senki W shows its budget and ambition. Hiro tests his custom LBX, Minerva, against a street battle challenge. The animation is fluid, the CGI for the LBX models blends surprisingly well with the 2D art, and the battle choreography emphasizes tactical positioning over brute force.

This isn’t just “press attack and win.” Hiro uses terrain, energy management, and a clever shield counter to outmaneuver a bigger opponent. For veterans, it’s a satisfying return to strategic combat. For newcomers, it’s a smooth onboarding to the rules of the game.

One of the biggest risks of any sequel is replacing or sidelining beloved characters. Danball Senki W Episode 1 cleverly avoids that pitfall by introducing a co-protagonist.

Hiro Ōzora is the standout addition. Orphaned and reserved, Hiro carries a dark secret: his father was the creator of the dangerous “Detector System” that threatens to weaponize LBXs across the globe. Unlike Ban, who fights for fun, Hiro fights out of guilt and responsibility. His LBX, Hyper Function Achilles (ACHILLES) , is an upgraded, faster, and more fragile machine compared to Ban’s all-rounder Odysseus. danball senki w episode 1

The episode spends significant time contrasting the two:

Their forced partnership—brokered by the newly formed LBX Monitoring Organization—is the engine that will drive the entire series. By the end of episode 1, they are reluctantly teamed up, but not before a spectacular battle that leaves both machines heavily damaged.

If you grew up customizing plastic model kits and dreaming of them coming to life in tactical combat, Danball Senki (or LBX) was your paradise. The original series gave us a tight blend of friendship, conspiracy, and high-stakes miniature robot battles. So when Danball Senki W was announced, the bar was set sky-high.

Does the first episode live up to the hype? Short answer: Yes, but with a twist. While Danball Senki W Episode 1 is a

The episode opens not with chaos, but with peace. A title card reveals that two years have passed since the events of the original Danball Senki (the battle against the Innovators and the destruction of the Eternal Gunner).

We are reintroduced to Ban Yamano, our spiky-haired hero, who is now a fifth-grader. He seems to have matured slightly, but his love for LBX battles is as fiery as ever. He is still living in the peaceful town of Kami-machi, where LBX battles have become a normalized, legalized hobby rather than a tool for shadow warfare.

However, the peace is deceptive. Ban is visited by his old ally, Amachi, who comes bearing urgent news: a new global threat is emerging, this time tied to an illegal LBX battle tournament known as the "W Tournament."

The episode quickly shifts tone when a mysterious, sleek, white-and-blue LBX appears in town, controlled by a silent, glasses-wearing boy named Hiro Ōzora. Unlike Ban’s fighting style, which relies on passion and instinct, Hiro fights with cold, mathematical precision. Their first encounter isn’t just a friendly spar—it’s a clash of ideologies. they are reluctantly teamed up
