    • If you are working on an older version of Illustrator (pre-2022) or if you have specific legacy files that demand the old .acb (Adobe Color Book) files, you can try to manually load them.

    Note: This method is becoming less reliable with newer MacOS and Windows updates, but it is a common workaround for veteran designers.

  • Paste the Files: Paste the .acb files into this folder.
  • Restart Illustrator: Close and reopen Illustrator completely.
  • Access the Colors: Go to the Swatches panel, click the hamburger menu (top right), select Open Swatch Library > Color Books, and your legacy Pantone libraries should appear there.
