Eplan P8 Sample Project -

For our Sample Project, we utilize the IEC 61800 standard for adjustable speed electrical power drive systems. The choice of standard within the project properties automatically configures:

While the sample project is excellent, it is not a complete replacement for real-world complexity. Be aware of:

For advanced topics, seek specialized sample projects from Eplan’s official training center or from automation vendors like Siemens, Rockwell, or Mitsubishi.

The most critical early decision is the Project Structure. Our Sample Project utilizes a hierarchical identifier structure (Function = F, Location = L, Product = P). Eplan P8 Sample Project

This structure allows Eplan to automatically generate the Device Tagging system (e.g., -F2:K1 refers to a relay in the PLC section), ensuring that every device has a unique, logical "address" within the machine.

One of the most compelling aspects of the Sample Project is the transition from 2D to 3D.

After installing EPLAN P8:

  • Restore it to your workspace.
  • Note: If missing, re-run the EPLAN setup and select “Sample Projects” during component installation.

    Avoid these traps:

Go to Project > Properties. This is where the magic happens. For our Sample Project, we utilize the IEC

An Eplan P8 sample project is more than a template; it is a blueprint for engineering efficiency. By looking past the lines and symbols and diving into the Project Properties, Parts Management, and Dynamic Reporting, you can transform your approach from "drawing" to "designing."

Next Step: Open your Eplan installation folder, load a sample project, and spend 30 minutes not drawing, but clicking "Properties." You will be surprised at what you find.
