Epson L386 Ink Pad — Reset

Even with the correct guide, resets can fail. Here is how to fix common issues on the Epson L386.

The Epson L386, like many modern inkjet printers, uses a built-in maintenance box or a series of absorbent pads located at the bottom of the printer. These pads collect excess ink during the cleaning cycles, print head alignment, and borderless printing.

The free version of WIC Reset will only read the counters. To reset, you need a reset key.

Resetting the counter solves the software lock, but it does not physically clean the ink pads. If the pads are truly saturated, ink will eventually leak out of the bottom of the printer. The free version of WIC Reset will only read the counters

DIY Warning: Replacing the pads involves disassembling the printer. If you are not comfortable with electronics repair, it is highly recommended to have this done by a professional service center.


To reset the counter, you will need the Epson L386 Adjustment Program (sometimes referred to as a Resetter Utility).
