If you own an Epson M100, you know it’s a beast when it comes to ink efficiency. But there is one universal headache: The Pad Counter.

After printing thousands of pages, your Epson M100 will freeze, flash lights, and display "Service Required." To fix this, you need a Resetter. However, searching online is a minefield of fake links, Trojans, and what the community calls "Nosware" – software that claims to reset your printer but actually infects your PC.

Today, I’m going to show you how to reset your Epson M100 without downloading any shady virus-laden software. Remember: Resetting the counter without cleaning the waste

Before we talk about the resetter, let’s understand why you need it.

The Epson M100 uses a tank-based ink system. To keep the print head from clogging, the printer runs periodic cleaning cycles. Excess ink is flushed into a sponge-filled compartment called the waste ink pad. The printer has a mechanical counter that assumes the sponge will fill up after roughly 8,000–15,000 pages.

When the counter reaches 100%, the printer stops working. Here is the catch: The sponge might still be half-empty. Epson errs on the side of caution. Therefore, resetting the counter without replacing the sponge is physically safe if you monitor or manually empty the waste tank later. Click the "Initialization" button

Click the "Initialization" button. A warning will appear: “Are you sure you want to reset the waste ink pad counter?” Click Yes.

You will see a green progress bar. Within 5 seconds, both counters will display 0%.
