Golden Rule for Sound: If you hear static or sound looping, switch to Eternal SPU 1.41 and disable "Sound effects mixing" if using Windows 10/11.
All plugins (.dll files) go into the plugins folder. Then in the emulator, go to Config → Video / Sound / CDROM and select the DLL from the dropdown. If it doesn’t appear, the plugin is 64-bit (ePSXe 1.9.0 is 32-bit) or corrupted.
Yes. Install it in a folder like C:\ePSXe (not Program Files, to avoid permission issues). Run in Windows 7 compatibility mode if you get plugin crashes.
