This guide assumes you have basic knowledge of Esko software and focuses on the shrink-specific workflow.
Once the setup is done in the Toolkit, the file moves into Studio 10 (accessible directly within Adobe Illustrator).
Unlike a standard label that sits flat on a bottle, a shrink sleeve is printed on a flat tube of plastic film. When heated, this tube shrinks tightly around the container. Click Apply Pre-Distortion
The problem? The areas of the container with the most curvature (like the neck or the base corners) force the film to shrink more, stretching and distorting the artwork. A perfect circle printed on the flat film might look like an oval or an amoeba once applied to the bottle.
Esko Studio 10 solves this by allowing designers to work in reverse—painting onto the 3D shape and unwrapping the distorted result back to a flat 2D file.
Once the technical construction is complete in Studio 10, the Visualizer Studio Toolkit takes over to sell the design. While Studio focuses on structure and geometry, Visualizer focuses on material science and lighting. If you’d like, I can:
Why it matters for Shrink Sleeves:
This is the killer app. Once your product model and your flat artwork are loaded:
What used to take two weeks of back-and-forth between designer and shrink engineer now takes two hours. Brands can launch seasonal shrink sleeves (like Halloween or holiday designs) with tight deadlines.
