Exhibitionist Observer V10 Colette Studio New Today

To understand the V10, one must understand the rebranding. The original Colette (Paris, 1997–2017) was famous for the bleu de Colette and the democratic curation of high/low culture. Colette Studio New is a different beast. Launched in late 2024, this iteration focuses exclusively on "Functional Narcissism"—devices that look back at you.

The "Exhibitionist Observer" series is their first line. The name is a paradox: An Exhibitionist wants to be seen; an Observer wants to see. The V10 hardware bridges this by being a component that obsessively monitors your vinyl playback while begging to be photographed for Instagram.

Role: Exhibitionist Observer
Version: V10 (focus on dynamic reciprocity – the observer influences the scene and vice versa)
Studio: Colette Studio (known for curated, aesthetic, narrative-driven adult scenarios with safewords, mirrors, and tiered viewing zones)

In V10, the Exhibitionist does not simply perform for a passive audience. The Observer is actively watching in ways that shape the exhibitionist’s arousal – through gaze direction, proximity, whispers (via intercom or ear bud), or subtle gestures.

Visually, v10 is defined by a stark, high-contrast palette that has become a signature of the studio. The composition is tight and claustrophobic, forcing the viewer into an intimate proximity with the subject. There is a deliberate tension created between the grainy, analog texture of the background and the hyper-digital clarity of the focal point.

This iteration introduces subtle distortions—visual artifacts that suggest a glitch in the recording or a lapse in memory. The framing is asymmetrical, suggesting a surveillance angle, reminiscent of a security camera or a keyhole peep. This compositional choice denies the viewer the comfort of a passive, centered perspective, instead implicating them in the act of voyeurism.
