FirstChip APTool (not MPtool) can sometimes bypass dead firmware via a different USB handshake. Run APTool → Upgrade Firmware → Download ISP. Works only for partial corruption.
Unlike older controllers, the FC1178BC has a protection mechanism. If the NAND flash develops bad blocks or the file system is corrupted, the controller locks itself into a read-only or "dead" state.
