This is the gold standard. It works even when the device is bricked, stuck in boot loop, or has a corrupted filesystem.
This clears all settings and reboots to factory defaults.
Caution: Do not power off during the process.
Verify: Connect to https://192.168.1.99 (default). Login: admin (no password). You will see the initial setup wizard.

If the FortiGate 30D does not boot properly—stuck at "Loading..." or in a continuous reboot cycle—you need to interrupt the boot process and initiate a reset from the bootloader. This is the most thorough reset, often called a "maintenance mode reset."
After reboot, the device reverts to factory settings. Limitation: If the previous owner disabled the reset button via config system admin or the OS is corrupted, this method will fail.
