Locate the cold water valve under your sink. Turn it off. Open the main kitchen faucet (cold side) to depressurize the line. Wait 2 minutes. This prevents the infamous "water hammer" surprise when you cut the pipe.

The unit arrives with a sediment filter pre-installed. But the RO membrane is separate. Open the membrane housing (the large vertical tube). The manual says “insert membrane.” Better: Lubricate the large black o-ring with silicone grease (not Vaseline, which degrades rubber). Push the membrane firmly until the double o-rings are seated. Screw the cap on hand-tight plus 1/8 turn.
