The film’s emotional core hinges on accepting a daughter’s non-binary identity and queer relationship. The film grossed over $140 million globally—an astronomical sum for an indie arthouse film—proving that GenderX themes sell.

Similarly, Barbie (2023) was a global phenomenon not because it celebrated the binary, but because it deconstructed it. The film explicitly critiques the patriarchy while celebrating the messiness of female existence and the absurdity of "Kenergy." Critics often dismiss GenderX content as "woke" niche marketing. However, the data tells a different story.
