Google Chrome For Blackberry Passport Page
In 2015, a fan project attempted to backport Chrome 39 to BB10 using a custom Android runtime shim. It rendered Google.com and Wikipedia but crashed on any JavaScript-heavy page. The project was abandoned after BlackBerry announced the end of BB10 development (2018). Today, no active development exists.
Because the Passport runs Android 4.4 (KitKat) via the ART runtime, you can technically install ancient versions of Chrome. The last version of Google Chrome compatible with Android 4.4 is Chrome 81 (released in 2020) .
How to do it:
The Reality: It will install. It will open. And then it will be virtually useless. google chrome for blackberry passport
Verdict: It works technically, but fails practically.
BlackBerry 10 comes with the Amazon Appstore pre-installed (look for the "Amazon" icon).
If you still want to attempt Chrome or a Chromium derivative: In 2015, a fan project attempted to backport
Note: BlackBerry Link desktop software is deprecated; modern tools like bbtools or Sachesi can convert APK to BAR, but Chrome almost never survives conversion.
The built-in BlackBerry Browser (based on WebKit) outperformed any theoretical Chrome port for the Passport:
If you want "Chrome" on your Passport, you have three brutal options. Only one works. Because the Passport runs Android 4
This is the pro move. Instead of running Chrome on the Passport, you run Chrome from the Passport.
Use QRCP (a file transfer app) to send links from your desktop Chrome to the Passport. Or, use the Passport's native browser as a thin client for Chrome Remote Desktop. You can install the Chrome Remote Desktop Android APK (old version), connect to your Windows or Mac desktop, and control a real Chrome browser on your PC from the Passport.
Warning: This is for expert users only. It is unstable and can drain battery life.
There is a method created by a developer named "Cobalt" that tricks the BlackBerry Passport into thinking it has Google Play Services. This allows you to install the actual Google Play Store and download official Chrome.
Why I do not recommend this: Even if you get Chrome running this way, it will be sluggish. The Passport runs Android apps in an emulation layer (runtime), and modern Chrome is too heavy for it. The native browser is significantly faster.
