The game thrives on the "New Beginning" trope. The protagonist is often untethered from parents and past reputations, forced to build a new social circle from scratch. OrphanStudio leverages this to introduce a cast of characters that represent the diverse archetypes found on any campus: the studious introvert, the party-loving extrovert, the enigmatic senior, and the childhood friend who may or may not have followed you to the same university.
