At an underground gallery in Berlin or a warehouse in Bushwick, a performer named Nadine-J Alina sits at a small table, pouring milk from a large porcelain pitcher into an endless row of glasses. Behind her, a 20-foot inflatable figure named Micky (“the Big”) slowly deflates and reinflates (“the Milky” as in white latex). Audience members are invited to whisper secrets to Micky. The performance lasts six hours. Critics call it “tender absurdism.”
