Nalco 93033

When injected into cooling tower water, Nalco 93033 performs three simultaneous actions:

Hardness ions (calcium and magnesium) precipitate at high temperatures, forming calcium carbonate scale. Scale acts as an insulator, reducing heat transfer efficiency by up to 40%. The phosphonates in Nalco 93033 perform threshold inhibition—they keep calcium ions soluble at supersaturated levels. Meanwhile, the acrylic copolymer distorts the crystal structure of any precipitating salt, creating "mud" that remains suspended and can be removed via blowdown rather than adhering to pipes.

A: Indirectly. By removing scale and biofilm (which harbor bacteria), it supports biocide efficacy. However, you still need a secondary biocide (e.g., chlorine, DBNPA) specifically for Legionella control.
