“We realized the building itself has been hiding a body for over a century,” Hoffman told WEBD. “The season is called Only Murders in the Building: The Foundation. It’s a time-jumping mystery where our trio discovers blueprints that don’t match the current layout.”

The “WebD” version isn’t just a release strategy—it’s baked into the plot. Throughout the season, characters break the fourth wall to address “WebD viewers” directly, offering alternate clues hidden in the corner of the screen (QR codes leading to bonus evidence, fake social media accounts for suspects, and even a playable mini-game where you can rearrange Mabel’s corkboard). One episode is entirely interactive: you choose which suspect’s apartment to search, and the WebD algorithm tailors the ending.
This is the question driving the fandom insane. Normally, streaming services avoid skipping seasons. But Only Murders in the Building has always been subversive.
