Palworld Update 0.2.1.0 To 0.2.2.0 -kirigiri Up...

Before diving into the numbers, we must address the elephant in the room: Why is the community calling this the Kirigiri update?

Data miners digging through the 0.2.2.0 files discovered references to an unused asset folder titled "Kirigiri" — a Japanese word often associated with "fog" or "mist," but also a popular surname in anime (most notably Kyoko Kirigiri from Danganronpa). While Pocketpair has not officially acknowledged the name, speculation runs rampant:

Regardless, the name stuck. Players now refer to 0.2.2.0 as the "Kirigiri stability patch."

If you are still on v0.2.1.0, you are playing a ghost town of bugs. Palworld Update 0.2.1.0 to 0.2.2.0 -Kirigiri Up...

If you need a line-by-line changelog (official patch notes) or comparisons to the next major update (v0.2.3.0 / Sakurajima update), let me know.

Not everything made the official patch notes. Here’s what players found:

| Item/Pal | 0.2.1.0 State | 0.2.2.0 (Kirigiri) Change | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Rocket Launcher | 5,000 damage, huge AoE | Damage reduced to 4,200; AoE splash reduced by 15% | | Poison Crossbow | 350 damage + DoT | Base damage increased to 500; DoT tick rate halved | | Grizzbolt | Minigun skill had 30s cooldown | Reduced to 22s cooldown | | Lyleen | Healing skill scaled with Attack | Now scales with Player Level (heals more at Lv. 50) | | Mercy Hit (Passive) | Keeps 1 HP – worked on humans only | Now works on wild Pals (finally usable for capturing legends) | Regardless, the name stuck

Developer note: The Mercy Hit change was explicitly requested by the Nuzlocke community.

Before dissecting the changes, we must understand the battlefield of v0.2.1.0. Released in early April 2024, this patch was a reactive hotfix aimed at extinguishing the fires started by the controversial 0.2.0.6 update (which introduced the "Evil Inc." raid bosses, Bellanoir, and the Summoning Altar).

The 0.2.1.0 Baseline:

Update 0.2.1.0 was a bandage. But the wound required stitches. Enter v0.2.2.0 (Kirigiri).
