Because version 0.18 introduces larger render distances for the dynamic AI, the game is slightly heavier than 0.17. Currently, the build size is approximately 2.4 GB (up from 1.9 GB).
ZinkoPoly has re-rendered approximately 30% of the background sprites using a new lighting filter. The day/night cycle is now much more pronounced, with dynamic shadows affecting where NPCs will stand. One of the biggest complaints in previous versions (0.16 and 0.17) was that NPCs felt too static. In Polyturnon -v0.18-, ZinkoPoly implemented a "Dynamic Routine" system. Now, 18 of the existing 45 characters have secondary routines. For example, the Park Ranger, previously only found at the station, now walks a patrol route between 2 PM and 5 PM that crosses paths with three other characters, allowing for multi-step interaction chains.
