Why go through all this trouble for a 2014 build of a 2005 game?
With the release of the Resident Evil 4 Remake in 2023, one might assume the 2014 HD Edition is obsolete. Yet build 10112090 remains relevant for three reasons:

Since this specific build is no longer available directly via Steam’s default download (Steam forces the latest build), enthusiasts use one of two methods:

The vanilla build had aggressive mouse acceleration that made aiming feel "floaty." It was trying to emulate the smooth pan of an analog stick, but on a mouse, it feels unresponsive. A patched build strips this away, offering raw, 1:1 input that makes the PC version arguably the best-playing version of the game—once fixed.
