If you just want a minimal version that works for 99% of TSM mods:

Even with the correct sims medieval resource.cfg, things can fail. Here are the most common issues. sims medieval resource.cfg
Create a new text file named exactly resource.cfg (no .txt extension) inside the Mods folder, with this content:

By default, resource.cfg does not exist in a fresh installation of The Sims Medieval. You must create it manually if you wish to use mods. Tokens:
Correct folder to place resource.cfg in:
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims Medieval\
(Note: Some players may have a localized folder name, e.g., Die Sims Mittelalter on German systems, but the path remains inside Documents\Electronic Arts\.)
Do not place this file in the game’s installation directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims Medieval\). The game only reads user-created content from the user documents folder.
