Used in Dolphin (Wii/GC) and Cemu (Wii U) via “Portal Emulation” features.
Some variants, like "Green Chompy Mage" (retail $200), are inaccessible to normal players. Through Bin File swapping, modders have been able to write that variant's data onto a standard "Chompy Mage" base. Warning: This is for offline emulation only; doing this on console online services risks a ban. Skylanders Bin Files
Skylanders chips are robust, but they fail. Heat, age, or physical damage can corrupt the data. However, because the UID (Unique Identifier) is burned into read-only memory, you cannot simply copy a friend’s Spyro. But you can write a clean Bin File from a working figure onto a blank NTAG203 sticker, then transplant it into the broken toy’s base. Result: Your original statue works again. A standard Skylanders bin file is relatively small, typically ranging from 1KB to 2KB in size. The data is not just a simple ID number; it is a structured block of memory that contains several distinct sections: Skylanders chips are robust, but they fail
Inside every Skylander (from Spyro’s Adventure to Imaginators) is an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) chip, specifically an NXP NTAG 203 (for early games) or similar 13.56 MHz tag. This chip holds approximately 504 bytes of rewriteable memory.
A Skylanders Bin File is a complete, bit-for-bit copy of that 504-byte chip, usually saved with a .bin extension. When you hold a figure to a Portal of Power, the console reads this file to identify:
The structure of the bin file varies depending on the game generation:
