SR Tamil fonts represent a significant, albeit transitional, phase in Sri Lankan Tamil digital history. While they enabled early Tamil computing, they are now obsolete and act as barriers to data accessibility, searchability, and preservation. The only sustainable path forward is full migration to Unicode Tamil, using available conversion tools and best practices. Organizations still relying on SR Tamil fonts should treat migration as an urgent digital preservation priority.
