Using Windows 10 as a qcow2 image is the best way to run Microsoft’s OS on a Linux host without dual-booting. When properly configured, performance approaches near-bare metal, but there are specific trade-offs compared to using a raw disk image or VHDX.

If your Windows 10 qcow2 runs out of space:

qemu-img resize windows10.qcow2 +20G

Then, inside Windows 10, open Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) and extend the C: partition.

Note: Shrinking a qcow2 online is not supported. Use the conversion method described earlier.
