To ensure operational fluidity, the host system must exceed the baseline requirements of the guest OS plus the overhead of the hypervisor.

The VM gets its own IP on the local network. Go to VM Settings → Network Adapter → Bridged. Then configure Windows Firewall in the VM to allow WinOLS.
Security note: Do not use public license cracks that phone home. They often contain malware. Run a firewall in the host to monitor the VM’s outbound traffic.

Inside the VM, install the driver for your specific programmer (Kess v2, K-Tag, PCMflash, etc.). Treat the VM as your physical tuning laptop. Connect the programmer via USB, then in VMware select "Connect to VM."
Troubleshooting: If the tool isn’t recognized, edit the VM’s .vmx file (add usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"). Some tools use HID protocol.
