Modern Windows games use XInput (Xbox API). Many older or generic controllers use DirectInput. X360ce hooks game processes via DLL redirection:

Test – Use the Test tab to verify input and rumble.

Save – Click Save to generate:

Launch game – The emulator should be active (check console log overlay if enabled).

Later versions constantly check for updates or push notifications about “new controller databases.” On a PC without internet or with strict firewall rules, these checks can hang the emulator. Version 2.0.2.163 launches instantly. X360ce 2.0.2.163
