Xtralis: Vsc Software

One of the unique strengths of Xtralis ASD systems is their ability to detect incipient fire stages. VSC leverages this by providing Pre-Alarm warnings. Operators can see smoke levels rising and investigate the source before a full evacuation is triggered.

VSC utilizes a "site map" approach. Users can upload floor plans or CAD drawings of the facility and place detector icons on the map. The icons change color based on status (Green = Normal, Amber = Fault/Alert, Red = Fire), providing instant visual identification of the hazard location.

Data centers cannot afford downtime. VSC allows operators to detect overheating components or smoldering cables at the earliest possible stage (even before smoke is visible to the human eye) without triggering a suppression system discharge (which causes massive financial loss). xtralis vsc software

It is important to distinguish between standard VSC and its larger counterpart, VSC Enterprise.

| Feature | Standard VSC | VSC Enterprise | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Scale | Small to medium sites (single facility). | Large, multi-site campuses (e.g., data centers, airports). | | Capacity | Limited number of nodes/devices. | Tens of thousands of devices. | | Architecture | Standalone installation. | Server/Client architecture with redundancy. | | Integration | Focused on smoke detection. | Broader integration with BMS, SCADA, and IT systems. | One of the unique strengths of Xtralis ASD

In modern deployments, VSC is often connected to the client’s IT network. Xtralis has updated VSC over the years to address cybersecurity concerns, including user access levels (password protection), audit trails, and secure network protocols. However, it is standard industry practice to isolate the Fire Detection System on a dedicated VLAN or physical network segment (air-gapped) to prevent unauthorized access.
